The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Barbara Louque Guidry, 87, died peacefully at her home on Thursday November 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lutcher, Louisiana on August 31, 1936, to parents Roland J. and Emmeline F. Louque. She was a proud alumna from the St. Anthony High School, Baton Rouge, Class of 1954. Shortly afterwards in 1955, she married her high school sweetheart and future attorney, Carl A. Guidry, and they began their lives together raising a family. In the mid 1960’s, they moved to the newly formed St. Thomas More parish and have been faithful parishioners there for over 60 years.

Barbara was a loving, gentle, humble, beautiful soul and as the mother of eight children, she was also undeniably strong, patient, and resourceful!
