Jean-Baptiste Raymond-Toulouse-Bertrand was born around 1664 in Bivès, Gers in France. Son of Raymond and Jeanne Aubry, he married Marie-Louise Drusson, daughter of Robert and Marie-Jeanne Tarde, on February 10, 1699 in Laprairie. From this marriage were born 10 children. This pioneer arrived in the country as a soldier in the company of Sieur Dumesnil. He settled in Laprairie on land he received as a dowry at his marriage. On November 1734, being crippled for 11 years, he donated his house and land of one arpent by thirty arpents to his son before a notary. He died on January 6, 1737 and was buried the next day in Laprairie.
