Biography
Thomas Paine was a fascinating figure in American history, known for his influential writings during the American Revolution. Born on January 29, 1737, in Thetford, England, Paine had a varied and often tumultuous life.

Paine's early years were marked by a series of setbacks. He worked various jobs, from corset maker to schoolteacher, and even a brief stint as an excise officer. However, his life took a significant turn when he met Benjamin Franklin in London in 1774. Encouraged by Franklin, Paine decided to immigrate to the American colonies.

Arriving in Philadelphia in 1774, Paine quickly became involved in revolutionary activities. In 1776, he published his most famous work, 'Common Sense.' Paine's straightforward and persuasive writing style made complex political ideas accessible to the common people.

'Common Sense' argued for the American colonies' independence from British rule,
