Jean had a rough start in life with the death of her mother at the age of 17. Besides a few lifetime I.E. Young school mates, she survived emotional and physical abuse by the one that was supposed to love her and their children. Jean and Lester separated in 1972 and only to reunited as friends in the last few years but never lived together at the time of his death. Lester resided in the Bronx, only visiting her on the weekend of his death. They never filed for a divorce.
