BAWDEN, JR. Family Tree – Connecting the Past to the Present!
George Ray "Binc" BAWDEN, JR. was born March 7 1924 in Davenport, Iowa, USA
George Ray "Binc" BAWDEN, JR. was the child of George Ray "Ray" BAWDEN and Viola Katherine DUVALLSpouse(s)/Partner(s) and Child(ren):
George Ray "Binc" married Jean Evelyn REININGA . The couple had (at least) 1 child.
Jean Evelyn REININGA was born December 30, 1924 in Oak Park, Cook, Illinois, USA. Jean Evelyn died June 9 2002 in Davenport, Iowa, USA.
George Ray "Binc" BAWDEN, JR. died 1 March 1986 in Davenport, Iowa, USA.
Family lived in a house built by father in the boonies. Not yet incorporated with City of Davenport. Played golf on Davenport High School's team as #1 or #2. Started at St. Ambrose Cp;;ege in Davenport, then on to University of Iowa Law School. Passed the State Bar. Put himself thru law school by being a photographer with an apartment in town. Funny thing---he promised his wife he'd bring a wedding photographer to Oak Park River Forest First Presbyterian Church for his and Jean Evelyn Reininga's wedding. Something happened and Binc arrived late with no photographer. There were no wedding photos taken. Jean posed in Davenport family ad agency with her dress.
My parents took a trip to a Reininga family "cabin" in Saugatuck, Michigan, where Dad ended up at Mayo's in Rochester, MN, and Dr. Paine, who retired after Dad's final surgery (out of 3), used a part of Binc's colon to replace the esophagus. Reasoning is the colon uses the same peristaltic motion. We had family jokes about curing a sore throat...Preparation H??? When Dad finally came home after a year or more at Mayo's, he was told not to catch a germ. Well, during the winter, he caught a cold and was air-ambulanced from the Davenport Airport to Mayo's and missed walking my sister down the aisle in January 1986. But he did call the church and spoke to the minister to apologize to my sister. At his funeral, it was the 11 grandchildren who spoke their memories from the pulpit. Binc's mantras were occasionally "res ipsy dixit", [first one to the judge], and "carpe diem".
He was driving home from Chicago by himself and saw a place where he could get a ride on a glider. He'd lost a lot of weight and was very skinny and weighed 80 lbs. so he drove home, got my younger brother to go back with him for the weight requirement. I guess it was a huge success.
