Obituary
Floyd Hoelker, 85 of Reno, NV passed away on August 16, 2008 at his home in Reno. He was born in Nebraska in 1923. At age 12, he and his family moved to Red Bluff, CA where he graduated from high school in 1940. He enlisted in the army in January of 1942 and served until January 1946. Shortly thereafter he moved to Santa Monica, CA and worked for the telephone company. Ernest Holmer an Army friend convinced Floyd to move to Fallon. In December 1949, Floyd enlisted in the Nevada Air National Guard in Reno and was employed full time as an administrative clerk where he remained until he retired in April of 1983. Floyd enjoyed fishing, playing softball, playing poker and golf. Floyd is survived by his wife Doris of 40 years; stepchildren, Clayton and Zaida Maynard, Larry and Alvin Dustin; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; four beloved nephews and their wives; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Wolcott and Judith Kimpton.
