MILBRIDGE - Arthur T. Anderson, 74, died 2 Dec 1987, at a Bangor hospital after a long illness. He was born in Boston, Mass., March 31, 1913, the son of Oscar and Clara Anderson. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II as a lieutenant commander. After the war, he held a chief engineers license and was employed by the Forell Line in New York, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Pleides Lodge 173 AF & AM of Milbridge, Norraguagus Masonic Lodge NO. 88 RAM of Cherryfield, and the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Hutchins) Anderson of Milbridge; one son, Andrew Anderson of Machias; two sisters, Grace Riley of Hingham, Mass., and Agnes Payne of Prescott, Ariz.; one brother, Walter Anderson of Dunedin, Fla.; three grandchildren, Michael, Jodi and Drew; several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Warren and Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Ambrose Rolfe officiating. Burial will be in the Hutchins Family Cemetery, Milbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Maine Division, Inc., P.O. Box 456, Burnswick 04011.
