Miss Laureen Theresa Pelletier and Walter H. Whitney, both of Kirtlahd, Ohio, will be married this morning at Morningside Baptist Church. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chandonnet L. Pelletier of 63 Orlando Ave. The Rev, Miriam B. Eckard will perform the 11 o'clock ceremony. A reception will follow at the American Legion hall. The bride will wear a gown of lace-covered silk trimmed with pearls and embroidery and a traditional veil. She will carry her mother's prayer book and wear a wrist corsage of white roses. Ms. Robin Amuso will be maid of honor. Miss Tina Shaw will be bridesmaid. They will wear gowns of rose pink matte taffeta, and carry pink and white flowers made by the bride and arranged... Jamie and Melanie Lang will be flower girls. They will wear white lace dresses, and carry flower petals and blossoms. Ronald Ouimet will be best man, Marcus DelGreco will usher. The couple will take a trip to Watkins Glen, NY., where they will participate in the Firestone Fire-hawk 24-hour endurance race. The bride, a medical secretary, is employed by Drs. DeMarco, Irwin & Combs in Willoughby, Ohio. She is a 1976 graduate of St Joseph's High School. The bridegroom is vice president and general manager of Northeast Ohio Better Hearing Aid Co. in Mentor, He is a graduate of Peekskill (N.Y.) Military Academy.

Invention The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.
