Mr and Mrs Jess C Knouse of Placerville have announced the recent marriage of their daughter, Barbara S. Thomas, to Robert W. Crouss. The marriage took place earlier this month in Carson City, Nevada.
The bride's sister, Mrs. James Sea of Rio Vista, was the matron of honor: best man duties were performed by Richard Kerbel of Placerville, a friend of the bridegroom.
The newlyweds honeymooned at Lake Tahoe before returning to Placerville, where she is a secretary for Placer Finance corporation and he is employed at the Hangman's Tree.

Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.
News1962 - The Cuban Missile Crisis was a tense 13-day standoff in October 1962 between the United States and the Soviet Union over the installation of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba, just 90 miles from the U.S. coast. The crisis is considered the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war. It began when American spy planes discovered the missiles, leading to a U.S. naval blockade of Cuba and intense negotiations. The crisis ended when Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev agreed to remove the missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba and secretly agreeing to remove American missiles from Turkey.

Barbara Sue Crouss, 30, of Placerville died June 26 in Placerville. She was born in Diamond Springs and lived all her life in El Dorado county.

She was a clerk with EID.

Mrs Crouss is survived by her children Kimberly Sue Crouss and Cary Lee Crouss both of Placerville, sister of Judith Sea of Rio Vista, daughter of Mr and Mrs Jesse Knouse of Placerville and grand daughter of Mrs Faye Butler of Colosa and Jesse Knouse Sr of Chilicothe Missouri.

Funeral services were held Saturday June 29 at Chapel of the Pines. The Rev Henry MacFadden conducted the services. Private cremation followed the services.
