BETTENDORF -- Funeral services and Mass of the Resurrection for Roger J. Dessert, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, where a prayer service will be offered at 6 p.m. Mr. Dessert died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness. Roger Joseph Dessert was born Sept. 16, 1915, in Montreal, Canada, a son of Joseph Gaspard and Antonia (Royal) Dessert. He married Kathleen L. 'Bee' O'Connor on March 14, 1942, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Davenport. He graduated from Moline High School. He was a veteran serving in the Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Dessert retired in 1974 after 26 years as an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Agency and served as station chief in Ottumwa, Iowa.
