After the death of Stephen Gary, his widow married (intentions) in Boston, Sept. 7, 1696, Gooing Foote. After his death she removed to Nantuchet, Mass. where she was housekeeper for William Gayer, Esq., a very prominent man of that island. She is mentioned in his will, in 1710, as a beneficiary, and there is a tradition that he desired to make her his wife. She married third, Stephen Pease of Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. In a deed recorded in Duke's County Stephen Gary of Taunton calls Patience Pease of Edgartown "my honored mother," thus one child of Stephen, the immigrant, by his second marriage is accounted for.
