The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Obituary
VICTOR M. ROSE Waupaca- Victor M. Rose, 85, passed away at the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 Victor was born in Reedsburg, WI on April 12, 1920 to the late Martin and Lillian (nee: Thienert) Rose. Following graduation from high school, he faithfully served our Country with the United States Army during WWII, touring mainly in France, Italy and Egypt. Victor came to Racine to begin employment at the JI Case Co. in 1947, where he resided until moving to the Wisconsin Veterans Home of King, WI in 2000. On April 26, 1960, he was united in marriage to Grace T. Rose, who preceded him in death on August 17, 2002. Vic retired from JI Case as a tractor repairman in 1983. He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. Vic was also a member of the VFW Post 1391 and the NRA. Among many of his interests, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
