Invention The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.

Obituary
SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Roy James Kunce, 84 will be held Monday, January 29, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery.

Officiating will be Reverend Jim Brooks, Chaplain of Overton Brooks Medical Center. The family will receive friends at Forest Park Funeral Home on Monday, January 29, 2007 prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Kunce was an Industrial Arts Teacher at North Little Rock High School from 1949 - 1952, Broadmoor Junior High School from 1949 - 1974 and was affiliated with Caddo - Bossier Civil Defense for thirty-five years. He was a member of the American Legion and a Charter Member of Ark-La-Tex Divers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margie Kunce; son, Karl Kunce; daughters, Esther Hartzheim and husband Lee of Green Bay, WS, Liz Judd and husband Sam of Lancaster, TN, Candace Maynard and husband Bob of Bossier City, and Lou Hilley and husband Byron of Greenwood, SC; 11...Read MORE...
