HENRY W. RONDEAU, 87
SOUTHBRIDGE - Henry W. Rondeau, 87, of High Street, a longtime tool and die maker and local band member, died Sunday in Harrington Memorial Hospital after an illness.
His wife, Lillian (Gauthier) Rondeau, died in 1982. He leaves a son; a daughter, with whom he lived; two brothers, both of Southbridge; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was born in Brockton, son of Henry F. and Marie (Renaud) Rondeau, and lived here most of his life.
Mr. Rondeau was a tool and die maker at American Optical Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1973. A saxophone and clarinet player, he was a member for many years of the Roseland Band which played at area weddings. He was a member of Notre dame Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Optical Quarter Century Club.
The funeral will be held Thursday from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA of Southern Worcester County, 534 School St., Webster 01570.
