Wilma Lawlor

WILMA DOW LAWLOR, beloved wife of the late Lawrence (Larry) V. Lawlor, passed away in Lethbridge on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the age of 95 years.

She was born in Hillspring, Alberta, on December 13, 1914, the eldest child of William (Bill) Dow and Emma Gibb Dow. Her early years were spent in Magrath where she went to school and helped her mother raise her brothers and sisters. When she was 12 years old the family moved to the farm at Shaughnessy, AB. It was there that she met her beloved Larry and they were married in the Alberta Temple on July 27, 1933.

Larry and Wilma farmed in the Picture Butte and Sundial areas and enjoyed many friends and associates.

Their family of 7 boys and 4 daughters consisted of the following: Lawrence D. (Barbara), Dean (Margaret), Wayne, Keith (Roberta), Marilyn (Bryce Cahoon), Joseph, David (Brenda), Janice (Scott Peck) – both deceased, Peggy and Patricia – both deceased, Gordon (Cindy); 53 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Larry passed away as a result of an auto accident on May 31, 1989. The Funeral Service will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Lethbridge West Stake Centre, 560 Highland Blvd. W., Lethbridge, on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Deral Steed officiating.

Friends may meet the family at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, on Friday evening, March 19 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., or at the church on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Magrath Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff and management of the Edith Cavell Care Centre for the caring of our mother for the past 5 years.
