PLATTSBURGH---Robert D. "Sandy" McBride, MSGT USAF, Ret, 82, formerly of Margaret Street, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY.
He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on September 28, 1928, the son of Vernon H. and Katherine I. (Davies) McBride.
Robert married the former Grace Walker in 1953. After her passing, Robert married the former Lynda Wood in 1968.
He graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in Plattsburgh and then attended Clinton Community College. Robert then graduated from Plattsburgh State University where he received his Bachelors Degree.
Robert enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1945. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant following 26 years of service to our country.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey McBride of Tuscon, AZ and Ralph McBride and his wife Casey of Goshen, NY; three daughters, Fawn R. McGee and her husband John of Hernando, FL, Linda Steuart of Bonney Lake, WA and Monique B. McBride of Delmar, NY; one sister, Elizabeth LaJoy of Plattsburgh; eleven grandchildren, Michael Jenkins, Eric Beadle, Laura Beadle, Anthony McBride, Christopher McBride, Dale Girardian, Timothy McBride, Keith Scott, Brian Hilgemann, Daniel Colon, and Andrew McBride Lamoureux; seven great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. Robert also leaves behind his life long best friend Robert Lobdell of Fort Meyers, Fl.
He was predeceased by his mother in 1953, his father in 1983, and one granddaughter, Monica McBride.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
