OLIVE MOULTON OBITUARY
1904 - 2003
SOUTH BERWICK, ME- Olive F. (Purington) Leggett Moulton, 99, a longtime resident of Agameticus Rd., died Sunday, December 14, 2003 at Bradford House, Kennebunk.
Born in Jay, ME September 13, 1904, she was the daughter of George and Ada A. ( Morang) Purington. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Mr. Walter E. Campbell following the death of her father at age 3.
Mrs. Moulton was a graduate of Berwick Academy, class of 1921 and Fisher College, Boston, MA where she majored in business. Olive was an excellent stenographer. She retired in 1966 from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (Shop 56) where she was a personnel clerk.
Olive was a member of Free Baptist Church of South Berwick where she was church organist for 17 years and treasurer for many years. She continued to enjoy organ music throughout her life, deriving much satisfaction from family who could share her love of music.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was Past Matron of the Sara Orne Jewett Chapter of South Berwick. She was past District Deputy President of the Rebekah’s.
In addition she was a member of the South Berwick Historical Society and served as secretary of the South Berwick Cemetery Association for many years.
Family members include her stepdaughter, Marjorie Fallon and her husband Lewis of Winter Park, FL, her stepson, Richard Moulton and his wife Virginia of Vero Beach, FL; her sister, Winona (Purington) Roberts of Sorrento, FL; 17 nieces and nephews including Hilda Clough of Rochester, many grand nieces and grand nephews.
Olive was predeceased by her first husband of 43 years, Carl Leggett in 1967 and by her second husband of 12 years David Moulton in 1983; and by seven brothers and sisters, Lela A. Purington, Richard B. Purington, Robert G. Purington, Dorothy L. Purington Robinson, Gilbert M. Campbell, Alden A. Campbell, and Affa A. Campbell Meserve.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 PM at McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main St, South Berwick. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 1 PM Thursday with the Rev. Roy Reynolds, pastor, Free Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetey.
