WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Rachel (Pariseau) Rapanault, 79, of 60 Kelsey Ave., formerly of Southbridge, Mass., long active in church affairs, died Friday at home after a short illness.

She leaves her husband, Lionel R. Rapanault; three sons, Lionel R. Rapanault Jr. of North Palm Beach, Fla., Paul J. Rapanault of West Haven and Marc R. Rapanault of Wallingford; a daughter, Suzanne R. Patry of West Haven; two brothers, Rosaire J. Pariseau of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Southbridge, and Bernard W. Pariseau of Sturbridge, Mass.; a sister, Ruth Y. Knox of Fairfield;, formerly of Southbridge; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nephews and nieces. A grandson, John J. Patry Jr. of West Haven, died in 1993. She was born in Southbridge, daughter of Esdras L. and Blanche (Lapierre) Pariseau, and lived here 50 years. She graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge and Becker Junior College, now Becker College, in Worcester, Mass.

Mrs. Rapanault was active for many years in church affairs. The funeral will be held Tuesday from Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Louis Church, 89 Bull Hill Lane. Entombment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
