The Auburn Citizen, Tuesday, February 24, 1925 -- "C. Eugene Almy dies at Clifton

Illness was of Several Weeks' Duration

"C. EUGENE ALMY DIES AT CLIFTON. . . . C. Eugene Almy, 59, one of Auburn's best known and respected citizens, died yesterday afternoon at the Clifton Springs Sanitarium after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Almy was a descendant of one of the oldest Holland families in the state, the son of Henry Almy and Hulda Sharpsteen Almy. The father was a native of Washington County and his mother's family were residents of Dutchess County for generations. The deceased entered the employ of D. M. Osborne & Co. when a lad and worked up through the various grades to the high post of assistant superintendent in charge of the No. 2 plant in North Auburn. For several years he has had charge of the Employment Department of the Columbian Rope Company. At one time he was superintendent of industries in Sing Sing Prison under Warden T. M. Osborne. He has always been active in all civic enterprises for the betterment of the City of Auburn and served one term as a member of the Board of Education. Surviving are three sons, Henry C., Willis E. and Robert L. Almy. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday at the Second Presbyterian Church, with burial in Fort Hill Cemetery."
