PICARD - nickname given to someone who is from Picardy, a former province in northern France. They were nicknamed by this name when they arrived in Canada a long time ago. They were 18 siblings. We can also find the ''Picard-des-trois-maison''. In Picardy, there were 3 houses for Picardians and thus, there were two lines of the Picard family.
Jean-Baptiste-Marie Picard was born around 1661 in Châtellerault, Vienne, France. Son of Pierre Picard and Marie Gagnon, he married Marie-Madeleine Sabourin, daughter of Jean and Mathurine Renaud, on August 3, 1688 in Montreal. The couple have 7 children. On May 9, 1706, a widower, he married in Montreal the widow of Jacques Galarneau, Jacqueline Héron, daughter of Pierre and Cécile Dupont. The couple have no children. A domestic servant, he lives in Rivière-des-Prairies and Montreal. Towards the end of his life, he was a herdsman. In 1722, a widower and destitute, he was lodged until the end of his days. He was buried in Montreal on May 1, 1728.
