Guillaume FOURNIER
Biography

FOURNIER - from Old French 'fo(u)rnier' which means 'baker'. 1) Guillaume Fournier was born around 1623 in Coulmer, Normandy, France. Son of Gilles Fournier and Noëlla Gageut, he married Françoise Hébert, daughter of Guilaume and Hélène Desportes, on November 20, 1651 in Quebec. From this union were born 15 children. He was confirmed in Quebec on August 10, 1659. He possibly returned to France in 1660, for a short stay, since he was present at the baptism of his son Joseph in 1661. He carried out several transactions in the Quebec region and is quoted from many times at court. In 1681, he owned 3 firearms, 12 cattle and 10 acres of land in value. He died on October 24, 1699 in Montmagny. 2) Nicolas Fournier was born around 1642 in Marans, France. Son of Hugues Fournier and Jeanne Hugette, he married Marie Hubert, daughter of Pierre Hubert and Bonne Brio, on September 30, 1670 in Quebec. From their union were born 6 children. He arrived in Quebec aboard the ship 'Noir de Hollande'. He is domestic. He settled in Bourg-Royal in 1671. In 1681, he owned 3 cattle and 8 arpents of land. He died on November 30, 1687 in Charlesbourg. His widow married Jean Gaschet for the second time, in 1691.
