Pierre Couc dit Lafleur

Moved to Québec in the 1640's. Moved to Trois-Rivieres 16 Avirl 1657. Born Pierre LaFleur. Information regarding birth date, death date, parents, and children is found in "Dictionnaire Genealogique des Families Canadiennes", Vol. I, page 142 and Vol. II, page 160 LDS Batch 7402201 sheet 93 film 934311, shows Pierre Couc LaFleur,
baptized 1624, Charente, Cognac, France, parents Nicolas Couc and Elisabeth Templair.

The first record of Pierre Couc at Trois Rivieres appears to be on 30 Jan 1657, when he was the godfather to Nicolas Onnenhase, age 30, an American Indian. He is called Lafleur Gogniac and his occupatation is voiyageuur or interpreter. The other godparent was Nicolas Duplessis, whose occupation is given as voyageur or interpreter also. The priest is Paul Reguineau (the same who would later marry Pierre to Marie).

Pierre Couque 57 years Married Male, Marie 50 years Amerindian Married female, Louis Coucque 20 years son unmarried, Marie Couque 18 years, daughter unmarried, Marguerite Couque 16 years daughter unmarried, Elisabeth Couque 14 years daughter unmarried, Madeleine Couque 12 years daughter unmarried, Jean Couque 8 years son unmarried.

Cited in 1651 in Trois-Rivieres as a soldier and interpreter.

A fort had been established at Trois-Rivieres in 1635. A 1663 map shows a mere fifty or so lots, one belonging to Pierre. Their land was located on the southwestern corner of Rue St. Pierre and Rue St. Michel, two blocks from the "Fleuve St. Laurent" (St. Lawrence River).

According to the Marriage Certificate No. 89036 of PRDH, Pierre Couc Lafleur is from the Parish of Cognac and Marie Miteouamegoukoue is an Algonquin. Two witnesses are listed as Charles Pachirini & Bathelemy Anaraoui, both Algonquin Indians. Others listed in the certificate are Nicolas Couc and Elisabeth Templair, parents of Pierre Couc Lafleur; also listed are Pere and Ameau Stseverin, perhaps as witnesses. Jesuit Father
