Jacques Archambault

Jacques Archambault is the ancestor single strain over twenty thousand descendants of Archambault.

In 1604, he was born in Dompierre-sur-Mer, Aunis, son of Antoine and Renee Ouvrard. It is assumed that his father lived products of the earth.

In 1629, he married Françoise Thoureault which, from 1630 to 1644, gave him seven children: two son and five daughters.

In 1645, he embarked for New France with six of her children.

From 1645 to 1647, he pledged to work in the field of Pierre Le Gardeur de Repentigny. In 1647, he rented the land of the lordship of Lachenaie to engage in agriculture, but without much success. In 1651, he acquired a concession in Cap-Rouge et Monsieur de Maisonneuve - a few months no more than thirty acres of land. His neighbors were Lambert Closs and Urbain Tessier dit Lavigne.

Archambault family living somewhere in Quebec or Montreal. We know he bought a house in Cap-Rouge in 1654 but he probably settled on the island of Montreal. On 11 October 1658, he dug the first well of the island of Montreal and then three more, was said dowser.

His wife died on 9 December 1663. The ancestor to took second wife Marie Denot, who was herself in her third husband.

He was buried in Montreal on 15 February 1688, when he was 84 years.

His descendants are found in the Montreal area, including: Pointe-aux-Trembles, Rivière des Prairies, l'Assomption, Lachenaie and Repentigny.

Their son Lawrence, husband of Catherine Marchand, had twelve children, but especially thanks to them that the descent was assured.

It was in this family that we owe the foundation of Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, which was created after Peter, son of Lawrence, had accepted on behalf of his son, 15 June 1724, a lease of thirteen acres of land.
