Obituary

WHITTUM, F. Kinsley, II F. Kinsley Whittum, II, 62, a long-time resident of Ellington died Tuesday (July 20, 2004) at his home, losing his battle with a long term illness. He was born in Springfield, MA, on August 28, 1941, the son of F. Kinsley Whittum, I, who died in 1946, and Clarice P. Meacham Whittum Campbell, who died in 1968. Known by his friends and relatives as "Kins", he leaves two brothers, Lewis N. Whittum of Richmond, NH and Geoffrey P. Whittum of Enfield. He also leaves a nephew, Jonathan E. Whittum of Boulder City, NV; his niece and Godchild, Aine Amy Whittum of Oakland, CA; and several cousins in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. Mr. Whittum had been active in the Ellington Parks and Recreation Commission, and helped to develop Brookside Park. He was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Vernon, and a member of the Rockville Lodge of Elks No. 1359. Arrangements are being coordinated by Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home in Vernon. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, at St. John's Episcopal Church, on Rt. 30 in Vernon. A private burial service will be at Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield, MA at the convenience of the family.
