Obituary

NEW BERN - Robert "Bob" James Lawrence, 74, born June 22, 1937, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011.
He attended the University of Connecticut and N.C. State University and he was a U.S. Navy veteran. He could always be seen next to the dug out at the Kinston Indians games. Bob was a loving father, grandfather and diligent supporter of his grandchildren's interests. He never missed an opportunity to attend a grandchild's event. He will always be in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Lawrence; three children, Joseph Lawrence and Joanie of Raleigh, Carol Ann McLawhorn and husband Glenn of New Bern, John William Lawrence and wife Angie of Oak Island; three brothers, William Lawrence and wife June of California, Peter Lawrence and wife Claudette of Georgia, Allan Lawrence and wife Maryann of Connecticut, and his nine grandchildren, Geoffrey McLawhorn and wife Lauren, Bobby, Anthony, Brittany and Harrison McLawhorn, Kasey and Kelsey Rae Lawrence, Sammi K. and Bobbi Jane Lawrence, and one great-grandchild, due in April, Braxton McLawhorn.

A memorial mass will be held to celebrate the life of Robert James Lawrence at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, at St. Paul's Catholic Church.
