Peggy Louise Ford, 46, of Guilford died Saturday at Yale-New Haven Hospital of cancer. She was the wife of James E. Long. Ms. Ford was born Oct. 17, 1952, in Wolfeboro, N.H., a daughter of Arthur and Marjorie Equi Ford of Franklin, N.H. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in mass communication/ journalism and was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She was a writer in public relations at Pratt & Whitney for 24 years. She was a member of the Governor’s Task force on Voluntary Action in 1990 and participated in the National Association of Partners in Education. She was a volunteer with the Special Olympic Summer Games in Florida and Connecticut for 14 years and received the Connecticut Special Olympics Outstanding Volunteer Award in 1988. She served on the Pratt & Whitney Diversity Council.

Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by a brother, Peter Ford of Fallbrook, Calif.; sisters, Pat Rennie of Grand Forks, N.D., and Pam Taylor of South Portland, Maine.
