1914 - Salisbury Is Alive - That Is The Belief Now Of His Auburn Friends

That Sherman S. Salisbury of this city, employed as a traveling salesman by the Black River Paper Company of Watertown, who disappeared mysteriously on October 28, is alive is the belief of his friends in this city, although Richard A. Wallace refused to confirm the reports that reached here yesterday and said to have come from Watertown, that he had located him in an Adirondack camp and talked with him. Mr. Wallace when interviewed this morning stated that the story of his locating Salisbury was unauthentic and stated that he had not seen Salisbury. He admitted, however, that he had gone into the Adirondack country last Tuesday, returning home Friday night.

Questioned as to what he learned while there regarding the missing man, Mr. Wallace refused to discuss the matter insisting that at the present time there was nothing in connection with the case that could be made public. He hinted, however, that there might be developments within the next few days that would clear up the mystery of the missing man.

When asked whether or not he found that Mr. Salisbury was alive or whether he believed him to be dead or alive, Mr. Wallace replied that he believed all along that he was alive. 'You can just say that I was up there huckleberrying or trout fishing. The morning paper story was all guesswork,' said Mr. Wallace. 'I didn't see any deer, but I saw some deer tracks and a real lumber camp.'
