LESTER E MERRITT IS DEAD
FUNERAL SERVICES WEDNESDAY

Carbondale. Nov. 12. Lester G Merritt, a former Delaware and Hudson Railroad locomotive engineer died at 7:30 o'clock Saturday night in his home, 82 Brook Street, the result of a stroke he suffered two weeks ago. He was aged seventy-five years and was born at Masonville, N. Y. Mr. Merritt came to Carbondale forty-eight years ago and was employed on the railroad for forty years at the time of his retirement three years ago. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Celia Bourgarde of Oneonta, N. Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Hadsell, - Carbondale; three sons. Niles B Forty Fort: Lester G. Jr. Binghamton, and Hobart Merritt, Baltimore, Md; five grandchildren and a brother, Ira Merritt, Jackson, Mien, s .t The funeral will be at 1 o'clock the home will be conducted by Rev. S. Turner Foster, DD, of the Presbyterian Church. Interment will be m Willow View Cemetery, Clifford.
