Alburn Gutterson Dies; Well-Known Hotel Manager

Alburn M. Gutterson of Milford, N.H. and New York city, a former clerk of the Wellington hotel in this city, died Saturday in New York.

Mr. Gutterson entered the hotel business at the Parker house in Boston and later came to this city. In 1912 he became assistant manager of the Prince George hotel in New York, later being made manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1941. During those years the Prince George became an unofficial headquarters for people from this area visiting New York. Mr. Gutterson made of the Prince George a "bit of New England in New York," with his dining room specializing in New England foods. For several years the North Adams club of New York, made up of people from here living in and around the metropolis, made Mr. Gutterson's hotel its headquarters, having a club room there and staging frequent dinners.

Following his retirement Mr. Gutterson was adviser to the hotel division of the New York Life Insurance company. During recent years he spent much time at his 90-acre farm in New Hampshire.

He leaves his wife, the former Lillian Feige, whom he married while in North Adams, and one son, Alburn Gutterson, Jr., who was born here and now lives in Lake Success, L.I.
