HARFORD, William Fitchie
William Fitchie Harford, 79, of Ellington, beloved husband of Ann (Learned) Harford, passed away on Thursday, (October 4, 2012). He was born in Goshen, NY on March 25, 1933, son of the late David and Mary (Fitchie) Harford. He moved to East Hartford in the early 1950's. Bill served in the Army in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a used car salesman before he owned his own Reinsurance Business. William volunteered at the Board of Education, the Republican Town Committee, and was a former Chair of the Grassroots East. He loved music, vintage cars, UCONN Women's Basketball, the Red Sox, and skiing. Besides his wife Ann of 17 years, he is survived by his children Karen DeFeo and David R. Harford; four grandchildren Daniel, Hailey, Austin, and Kalah; and two nephews David and Thomas. He was predeceased by his first wife Patricia Harford.

Relatives and friends may join the family on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville, CT 06066. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Vernon, 695 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT 06066 at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT, 06111 or the American Cancer Society , 142 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT, 06082.
