"Howard Shorey, retired fireman, dies in Memorial
Howard W. Shorey of 11 Peacock St., retired Auburn firefighter, died early today at Auburn Memorial Hospital, where he had bee a patient for a week and a half.
Mr. Shorey was born in Auburn, the son of the late William and Ann Doyle Shorey and was a life resident. He was appointed a fireman in 1934 and was assigned to engine companies 2 and 4. He retired in May of 1963. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Flanigan Shorey, a son William H. Shorey of Auburn, three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Grace Dashney of Lyons, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8:30 a. m. Thursday at the Farrell Funeral Home with a Mass of Resurrection in Holy Family Church at 9 a.m.
Members of Auburn Fire Department will be bearers. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home, 84 South St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday."
