She had worked as a registered nurse for 51 years, having worked at St. Anne Hospital, Charlton Memorial Hospital and St. Luke Hospital, New Bedford, before retiring in 1983.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the A.F. Almeida & Son Funeral Home, 1309 Globe St., with a funeral Mass at 10 in St. Michael Church, Essex Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

She leaves two daughters, Virginia Leclair of Warwick and Grace Evans of Scituate seven sons, Robert and Earl Pepper, both of Johnston, Richard Pepper of North Providence, Gene "Geno" Pepper of Providence, Leonard Pepper of Warwick, William Pepper of Plymouth, Fla., and Walter Pepper of Hendersonville, Tenn. a stepdaughter, Connie Dexter of Pawtucket 42 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Phyllis Cianci, Dorothy Souza and Helen Shafer. She was the stepmother of the late James Maguire Jr.
