Wayne Emmett Bobier was born on August 15, 1925 in South Sioux City, NE to Nettie (Strong) and George Bobier. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Ship’s Cook Third Class. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he moved to Sioux Falls, where he met Fern Bernetta Benning, whom he married on July 27, 1947. To this union, a son, was born on June 16, 1955.

Wayne was employed by Farmland Industries as a warehouse worker from 1959 until his retirement in 1987. He played drums in his family’s dance band, "Larry and the Rhythmairs," while Fern played the bass guitar and Larry played the accordion. Wayne enjoyed the simple things in life, nothing fancy, and always had a smile on his face.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife on October 9, 2008, his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, February 23rd at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main Ave. A memorial visitation with the family present to greet friends will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday at Miller’s. A private interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
