"…In the matter of David Salisbury on this 30th day of September, A.D., 1892, personally appeared before me, Mary ? …to administer oaths Catherine F. Applegate aged 56 years, a resident of Auburn, in the County of Cayuga, and State of New York…also Mary A. Walker, aged 48 years, a resident of Auburn…That we are personally and well acquainted with the aboved named soldier David Salisbury late a private Co. F. 160th New York Vols. That we live near neighbor to him and see him frequently and often, that the soldier is nearly 94 years of age, that he is physically totally and wholly incapacitated for the performances of any and all labor, that in addition…he requires the regular aid and attendance of another person to take care of him. He cannot dress or undress himself. That he has constant care just like a child, that his condition is permanent and he will never be any better.
