1944 - 3 STUDENTS ARE KILLED IN BUS ACCIDENT.

Detroit - (AP) - Three high school students were killed and 57 persons were injured, six critically, when an overloaded bus yesterday sideswiped an automobile and crashed into a tree on Ford Road in suburban Dearborn.
The dead:
ROBERT DRAKE, 17, who died at the scene.
BETTY KRAUSE, 17, who died at Eloise hospital.
WILMER FORD, 16, who died at Eloise hospital.
The Dearborn Coach company bus, with every available space crammed with students and war workers from Ford Motor Co. plants, was demolished. The bus, driven by ALVIN ROY SWEET, 31, of Detroit, and the automobile collided in attempting to pass and the bus then hurtled against the tree.
Eleven ambulances and as many sheriff's cars were summoned to take the injured to hospitals.
The driver of the car, SILAS T. MAXEY, also was injured.
