1913 - MANY IN CLOTH STEAL

News
Fall River (Mass.) Mills Systematically Robbed by Operatives.
Fall River, Mass., Nov. 28. - Investigation into alleged wholesale thefts from the American Printing company and the Algonquin Printing company has resulted in the arrest of twenty-four operatives in those plants and the seizure of a ton of cloth.

In three tenement houses 8,000 yards of goods were found. Some of the smaller stores in the neighborhood yielded up several thousand more yards. Officials of the American Printing company said they had been missing cloth for a number of years and estimated their loss into the thousands of dollars. Four months ago they place private detectives in their plants as operatives. These men learned, they said, that operatives took away cloth in dinner pails and wrapped around their bodies. One man, it is claimed, even drove up to the mill after hours and carried away goods in trunks and boxes.
