Pierre Maheust Maheux
Pierre Maheust dit Deshasards fut l'un des ancêtres sur qui repose la plus importante des familles Maheu.
Il naissait le 23 décembre 1630, de Jean Maheus t et de Michelle Chauvin.
Il exerçait le métier de tisserand en toile à l'âge de 21 ans il s'engageait pour la Nouvelle-France.
En compagnie de son inséparable ami, Jean Trudel, il aurait traversé l'Atlantique, en 1655 pour s'engager sur la terre du Chesnau, dans la seigneurie de Beauport.
En 1657, vers la fin du contrat Juchereau, ils acquéraient chacun une concession de terre, à l'est du Sault Montmorency.
Le 8 septembre 1659, il épousait Jeanne Drouin ils vécurent simplement dans la paroisse de l'Ange-Gardien, là où l'ancêtre se hissa rapidement au rang des habitants les plus considérables.
Maheuts n'hésitait pas, quand il le jugeait nécessaire, pour une clôture, un ruisseau ou autres litiges, à comparaître devant le tribunal il faisait valoir ses droits sur le champ.
Les Maheuts eurent 5 enfants tous survécurent et firent souche, exploit rarement réalisé à cette époque. Pierre et Jeanne-Angélique seront nos ancêtres.
En 1717, l'aïeul décédait à l'âge de 86 ans, Jeanne lui survécut jusqu'au 24 juin 1732. On note que des quatre cent livres qui lui revenaient en héritage, la moitié servit à faire dire des prières pour son défunt mari.
