JAMES McGILL Obituary
JAMES McGILL Passed away peacefully on November 1, 2009 at his home, after a brief battle with cancer. Born August 21, 1929 in Springfield, Massachusetts to George H. and Beulah M. McGill. Preceded in death by his brother, Lansing. After graduation from Dartmouth College in 1951, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and was an offic er stationed in Germany during the Korean War. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Ursula "Jackie". Upon his return, they settled near Boston and began his career with the Rand Corporation. He was relocated in 1957 to Santa Monica and eventually the family settled in the San Fernando Valley. Upon his retirement in 1989, he became active in political causes and volunteered at the American Legion Post 826. He is survived by Jackie, his wife of 56 years; son Richard (Cathryn); daughter Lynda ( John) Kurzeka; grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Tyler, Paige and Shannon McGill, and Andrew, Peter and Maggie Kurzeka. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009, 12:30 p.m., at Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen St., Chatsworth. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Legion Post 826, PO Box 189, Woodland Hills, CA 91365-0189.
