Norcross Bros. Stone Yard, East Longmeadow, Mass.

"...In Massachusetts the firm of Norcross Bros. have extensive deposits of sandstone at East Longmeadow. This stone is classed in three grades: Worcester, Kibbe and Maynard. Of these the first-named most clearly resembles Portland stone. The Maynard is a distinctly red variet, and the Kibbe is midway between the two. The stone appears to be more porous than the Portland stone, but it is sufficiently durable for a building stone if care is taken to place the stone on its bed."
