About Sprague
Sprague is a town in New London County, Connecticut, United States. The town was named after William Sprague, who laid out the industrial section. Sprague is composed of three villages: Baltic, Hanover, and Versailles.
Baltic is the town center village of the town of Sprague, Connecticut.
Baltic was formed around a cotton mill established on the Shetucket River on land purchased in 1856 by former Rhode Island Governor and U.S. Senator William Sprague. The A. & W. Sprague Manufacturing Co. mill burned down in 1887. Subsequently, Frederick Sayles of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, purchased the site and built the Baltic Mills Co. cotton mill, which opened in 1899.

1861 - (Sprague, CT) - European settlement occurred in the 1700s and, in 1861, the villages incorporated from Lisbon and Franklin.
Named for Rhode Island-based mill tycoon and politician William Sprague, whose multi-state holdings included a cotton mill in Baltic, Sprague attracted other entrepreneurs and evolved into the classic New England mill town.
1868 - There is a little child in the village of Baltic, Conn., only four years old, who plays more than forty tunes correctly on the piano.
Here name is Susan Medbury, daughter of George Medbury, chorister in the Baptist church.
