1819 - North Providence
North-Providence is a post town situated four miles north from Providence; bounded on the north by Smithfield, on the east by the Seekonk river, which separates it from Massachusetts, on the south by Providence, and on the west by the Wanasuatucket river, which separates it from Johnston.

The average length of the township is about 6 miles, and its mean breadth more than 2 and a half miles, comprising an area of about 16 square miles.

The surface of this township is uneven, consisting of moderate elevations and gently declivities. The rocks are primitive and transition; some limestone is found.

The prevailing soil is a gravelly loam, which is interspersed with tracts of sandy loam, and some of calcareous. The forests consist of oak, walnut and some pine; and the agricultural productions, of grass, hay, corn, some rye, potatoes, vegetables and gruits, for Providence market...

North Providence, Rhode Island
Providence county. This ancient and wealthy town was a part of Providence until 1767. Population in 1810, 1,758; 1820, 2,420; 1830, 3,503.

The surface of this town is uneven, consisting of moderate elevations and gentle declivities. The rocks are primitive and transition: some limestone is found.

The prevailing soil is a gravelly loam, which is interspersed with tracts of sandy loam, and some of calcareous. The forests consist of oak, walnut and some pine; and the agricultural productions, of grass, hay, corn, some rye, potatoes, vegetables and fruits, many of which are sent to Providence.

The waters of the town consist of the Seekonk river, which washes its eastern border; the Wanasquatucket, which forms its western boundary; and the Mashasuck, which intersects the interior of the township. North Providence, a township of Providence county, Rhode Island, bordering on Massachusetts, 4 miles N. from Providence, intersected by the Boston and Providence railroad. It comprises the greater part of the town of Pawtucket. Pop. 7680.

1871 - Mill Fire
The Grey-stone mills in North Providence, Rhode Island, owned by R. W. Cady, and run by Zebulon Whipple, was burned yesterday morning. The insurance was thirty thousand dollars on the mill and machinery, and five thousand on the stock. The loss not ascertained.
