David Hudson lead a group of explorers and surveyors from Connecticut and through the wilderness to the land just purchased, arriving in 1799.

1854 - Hudson
Hudson, a post-township in the N. E. part of Summit CO., Ohio, intersected by the Cleveland and Pittsburg railroad. Population, 1457.

Hudson, a flourishing post-village in the above township, on the Cleveland and Pitts burg railroad, 24 miles S. E. from the former, and 123 miles N. E. from Columbus. It is handsomely situated and neatly built. The Western Reserve College at this place was founded in 1826, and is a flourishing institution, with 8 instructors, and a library of 8000 volumes; 2 newspapers are issued here.

1895 - Hudson
Hudson, a post village of Summit co, O., at the junction of two railroads 25 miles S.E. of Cleveland and 14 miles N.N.E. of Akron. It has 4 churches, a union school, a newspaper office, a flouring-mill, a saw mill, and manufactures of evaporators, &c. Here is the Western Reserve Academy, which occupies the buildings and grounds of Western Reserve College, since the removal of the latter to Cleveland in 1882. Pop. in 1890, 1143.
