Manistique, a banking post-village, capital of Schoolcraft co., Mich., on Lake Michigan and on the Manistique, Marquette and Northern and other railroads, 108 miles WSW. of Sault Ste. Marie. It has chemical-works and manufactures of lumber, lath, sash, doors and blinds, lime, and pig-iron. Pop. in 1900, 4126.

MANISTIQUE, Mich. (AP) - Approximately 50 families were driven from their homes early Sunday when the Manistique river broke its bounds. Nearly a half mile of the residential and business sections were flooded by water ranging in depth from two to six feet.
