A parish, Saint-Georges-de-Noyen, was canonically erected there in 1835, then civilly, under the name of municipality of the parish of Saint-Georges in 1842, followed in 1845 by the municipality of Henryville, abolished in 1847 and attached to the municipality of the county of Rouville.

In 1855, the municipality of the parish of Saint-Georges was reestablished.
The municipal name was that of the post office opened in 1827. The name of the English King George IV (1762-1830) retained for the Protestant parish of St.George of Henryville in 1794, commonly identified as St.George's, served as a pretext to evoke Saint George, a very important figure among Anglicans and Catholics alike.

A village in the parish of St. George de Henryville, county and district of Iberville, situated on a small stream called the South River, two and a half miles from the Richelieu. The nearest railway station is Pike River, which is six miles distant, though the mails, which arrive and depart daily from Montreal and other parts, are delivered and received at Malmaison, seven and a half miles from Henryville. The distance from St. Johns, by road, is fourteen miles ; Clarenceville, six miles. The population of village is about 300 ; of pariah and concessions, 2,800. The parish annually produces and exports a- large quantity of grain, chiefly of the coarser sort. There are two churches in the village, Roman Catholic and Church of England ; a Roman Catholic Couvent (a branch of St. Hyacinthe) which has a large number of pupils, and is generally well sustained. A steam grist mill and two tanneries are in operation.

Hen'ryville, or Saint George de Henryville (also called Rivière du Sud), a post-village in Iberville co., Quebec, on Rivière du Sud, 9 miles W. of Des Rivières. It has 2 stores, 4 hotels, a convent, and 2 churches. Pop. 700.

It was only in 1957 that the municipality received its present name, inspired by that of Edme (Edmund) Henry (1760-1841), agent of the lord of Noyan, Napier Christie Burton, to whom this lordship and that of Sabrevois had been granted.
