1785 - Saint-Basile, New Brunswick, founded by Acadian settlers in 1785 to escape post-1755 British displacement.
Acadians moving up the Saint John River from Fredericton founded the settlement in the 1780s, including families like the Cyrs, Daigles, and Ayottes. It was considered the center of the Madawaska region for over 100 years.
1998 - Originally a farming community, Saint-Basile became a part of the city of Edmundston in 1998.
