Chapeau is a village in the Canadian province of Quebec, located along the Culbute Channel of the Ottawa River in the municipality of L'Isle-aux-Allumettes in Pontiac Regional County Municipality.

Chapeau's history is rooted in Indigenous lands, followed by European settlement in the early 1800s, primarily focused on fur trading and logging. The village was officially incorporated in 1874, after a major fire in 1853 drove settlers to its current location. It eventually merged with other municipalities in 1998 to form the new Municipality of L'Isle-aux-Allumettes.

Allumette Island, or Adams, or Chapeau, a post-village in Pontiac co., Quebec, on an island in the Ottawa River, 8 miles from Pembroke. Pop. 250. The island (ILE DES ALLUMETTES) is about 16 miles long and has on its W. side a great expansion of the river, called Allumette Lake. Area of the island, 70 square miles. Pop. 1500.
