About Chicoutimi-Nord
Chicoutimi-Nord, or formerly Sainte-Anne de Chicoutimi, is a sector of the Chicoutimi borough of the city of Saguenay. It is a former municipality merged into Chicoutimi since 1976.
Located on the north bank of the Saguenay River , across from downtown Chicoutimi , Chicoutimi-Nord is the main urban hub of the northern crown of the city of Saguenay. Detached from Canton-Tremblay in 1893 to form the village of Sainte-Anne de Chicoutimi, then Chicoutimi-Nord in 1955 , its history and development are closely linked to Chicoutimi and the various transportation infrastructures that allowed direct access to the south shore of the Saguenay.
