Swans Island, a post-township (town) of Hancock co., Me., about 25 miles SE. of Castine. It is on Swan's Island, which is in the Atlantic Ocean and is about 5 miles long and 2 1/ 2 miles wide. It has a safe and capacious harbor, which is seldom obstructed by ice. Pop. of the town in 1900, 758.
