About Southport
Southport is situated on a peninsula that separates the Sheepscot River and the Damariscotta River, both of which flow into the Gulf of Maine. The town is bordered by the towns of Boothbay Harbor and Boothbay to the east, and the town of Edgecomb to the west.
Southport is surrounded by several small islands, adding to its unique charm. Some of these islands include Squirrel Island, Capitol Island, and Dogfish Head.
While fishing and shipbuilding are not as prominent as they once were, Southport's economy now relies on tourism, hospitality, and some local services.
