About Rockport
Rockport: Found in Knox County, Rockport is a picturesque coastal town with a thriving arts community. Known for its scenic harbor and cultural attractions, it’s a charming destination for visitors.
[ROCK-port] was originally a part of Camden until those two split on February 25, 1891 and the name Rockport was adopted. Later that same year, and again in 1893, it annexed land from Camden.
Lime production was once a major industry and in 1817 three hundred casks of lime were shipped to Washington for use in building the Capitol, recently damaged by the British in the War of 1812...

1906 - Rockport
Rockport, a post-township (town) of Knox co., Me., on the W. shore of Penobscot Bay, 7 miles N. by E. of Rockland. It has quarries of limestone, large quantities of which are burned. Pop. in 1900, 2314.
